About me
My name is Solmar Varela , and I have a PhD in Theoretical Physics. My research focused on the area of molecular spintronics. I also taught at the Central University of Venezuela, Yachay Tech in Ecuador, and TU Dresden in Germany. I taught a wide variety of Physics and Chemistry courses, and published several scientific articles.
I have now taken a turn in my career and today I work as a science communicator at the Research Center in Light and Structured Matter (LUMES) at the University of Salamanca. Although I no longer officially teach classes, even after 14 years, teaching remains an essential part of my way of communicating.
During 2025, I will also serve as an International Year of Quantum Communication Fellow for the American Physical Society (APS), promoting the events of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technologies, declared by the UN, globally.
In addition to my work in communication, I have loved manual design activities since I was very young. This space brings together those two passions: science and artistic creation. Besides technical content and scientific dissemination, you will also find unique products inspired by science.
Thank you for reading and joining me on this adventure 🌟
